Services

What types of stone do you work with?

We restore marble, travertine, limestone, granite, quartzite, porcelain, ceramic tile and pebble or river stone surfaces, indoors and outdoors.

What is the difference between honing and polishing?

Honing uses diamond abrasives to remove scratches, etching and wear, leaving a smooth matte or satin surface. Polishing comes after honing and brings the stone to a reflective, glossy finish. Most restorations combine both.

Do you work on homes and businesses?

Yes. We work in residences, condominiums and commercial spaces, as well as on board yachts.

Can you restore stone that was installed many years ago?

Yes. Older stone often has the most to gain from restoration. As long as the stone is structurally sound, scratches, etching and dullness can usually be removed.

How long does a restoration take?

It depends on the size of the area, the type of stone and its condition. We give you a time frame with your estimate, before any work begins.

Are you licensed and insured?

Yes. Maximus Stone Restoration is licensed and insured.

Stone care

How should I clean marble day to day?

Use a soft mop or cloth with warm water and a pH-neutral cleaner made for natural stone. Avoid vinegar, lemon, bleach, ammonia and all-purpose sprays, which can etch or dull the surface.

Can etching be prevented?

Etching is a chemical reaction between acids and calcium-based stone like marble, so sealing alone cannot stop it. Wiping spills quickly, using coasters and trays and choosing stone-safe cleaners make a big difference.

How do I know if my stone needs to be sealed?

Place a few drops of water on the stone. If it darkens within a few minutes, the stone is absorbing liquid and will benefit from sealing.
